The first benefit is that it can help to lower your blood pressure. When a person has high blood pressure, then it increases the amount of work that the heart has to do along with the arteries. This is something that is going to damage a person’s circulatory system, which is going to lead to heart disease, stroke, heart attack, artery disease, or kidney damage. When you have a lot of calories in your diet along with the added sugar, then it is going to increase your chances of dying from cardiovascular disease.

Bad cholesterol

The second benefit is that it can help to decrease your bad cholesterol. Plus, a person is going to have less of the good cholesterol that they need. When a person has bad cholesterol or blood fats inside of their body, it is going to clog up their blood vessels and arteries inside of their heart. This is one of the main reasons why a person is going to have heart disease.

The third benefit is that it can increase the chances of you having heart disease. This is because when you have a lot of sugar in your diet, then you will be at a greater risk of having a heart attack. One of the best ways that you can cut back on the sugar in your diet, then you can ditch the amount of soda that you have. In fact, for every sugary drink that you have, it increases your risk of a heart attack by 25 percent.

Brain

The fourth benefit is that it can help to keep your brain as sharp as possible. A lot of people know that the sweets are going to eat away at the enamel on your teeth, but it can also eat away at your brainpower. It can impair the cognitive function of the brain and reduce the amount of proteins inside of your body that is needed for your responsiveness and memory. When you have a lot of sugar in your diet, then it can cause you to have metabolic syndrome. This is a cluster of different conditions that is associated with a decrease in a person’s cognitive function. This is because it changes the structure of the brain.

Dementia

The fifth benefit is that you are going to be less likely to have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. This is because when you have a lot of sugar in your diet, then it causes the body to produce a chemical that is known as a brain-derived neurotrophic factor. This is something that is going to help the brain to form new memories and remember some of the things that could have happened in the past. If a person has an impaired glucose metabolism due to diabetics, then they are not going to have a lot of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor inside of their brain and it causes them to have dementia.
